Creating Magic - PCCYFS Annual Spring Conference, 2008
Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth & Family Services -
Harrisburg, PA (www.pccyfs.org)
Tri-fold brochure/self-mailer
11.5" x 16" (folded to 5.33" x 11.5")
Adobe Photoshop (cover illustration) and Adobe InDesign

As part of their marketing campaign, the PCCYFS Conference Planning Committee requested a full-color brochure highlighting their selected theme of "Creating Magic," hence the mock magician's stage and mystical black hat on the cover. The brochure was designed as a self-mailer and printed commercially with process colors on a glossy text-weight paper to ensure that the mailing piece would remain under one ounce.  Open PDF

The Wildwood Journal, Spring 2007
Harrisburg Area Community College
Literary/Art Journal (booklet)
15.6875" x 10  (trimmed to 7.75" x 10")
Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop (photo editing)

These are the results of my 11th issue, working with The Wildwood Journal committee and responsible for all technical production tasks, including taking all selected literary pieces and artwork, many in hard copy form and some in digital format, and compiling it into a magazine-style booklet. The booklet was printed commercially with process colors. The cover was printed on a dull coated paper to keep the fibrous "screen print" appearance of the artist's (Danielle Perzacki) artwork. A semigloss paper was used inside to create crisp text and bright images and photographs.  Open PDF

We're Looking for a Champion, 2006
Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth & Family Services -
Harrisburg, PA (www.pccyfs.org)
Tri-fold note card and envelope
12.75 x 6.25" (folded to 4.25 x 6.25")
Adobe Photoshop (photo editing) and Adobe PageMaker

As part of their advocacy campaign for at-risk, delinquent, and dependent youth, PCCYFS requested an "unusual" informational piece. Photographing kids from actual group-home and foster-care settings within the Commonwealth set the stage for a "real-world" presentation. Combining these images with the client's words proved to become a powerful message to our state senators and representatives regarding these kids in need.  Open PDF

CPS Marketing Brochure, 2006
Cammarata Professional Services, LLC - Sewickley, PA
Bi-fold brochure
11" x 8.5" (folded to 5.875" x 8.5")
Adobe Pagemaker and Adobe Distiller

The client requested a marketing brochure for his start-up limited liability corporation that offers three specialized services to the Human Services industry: consultation, government relations, and training. Seeking a conservative and polished presentation, the piece was commercially printed with two spot colors (black and metallic bronze) on a warm and welcoming cream dull lustro paper. When folded, the three services are clearly visible on a mock-tab overhang (see example by clicking on the image at left), and, when opened, they also create section dividers.  Open PDF

Sowing Seeds of Support, 2008
Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth & Family Services -
Harrisburg, PA (www.pccyfs.org)
Seed packet
7.25" x 5.25" (folded 3.25" x 4.5")
Adobe InDesign

This seed packet is the result of a client's request to expand upon her theme of "sowing seeds" as part of an advocacy campaign. Modeled after an actual Burpee seed packet, my photograph on the front side was combined with the client's text and some royalty-free clip art images on the back. The package was filled with edible sunflower seeds and then handed out by PCCYFS staff and members to state senators and representatives (and their staff) at the Harrisburg capitol in September 2008. All printing, trimming, and assembling was done in-house.  Open PDF

QuakerPsalms: A Book of Devotions, 2002
Foundation Publications, Camp Hill, PA
Book
3.5" x 6.5"
Adobe Photoshop (photo editing) and Adobe PageMaker

The book's soft cover displays one of my earlier photographs taken at a reservoir in my home town. The sunlight sparkles atop the water's surface and adds a spiritual element to this serene image. The text pages of this pocket-size book are printed digitally (books on demand). The cover was commercially printed in bulk and laminated before binding to protect the book from the wear and tear of frequent use. A full version of this book cannot be made available here due to its copyright; however, it is available for purchase at www.quakerbooks.org.
